Wednesday Inspiration #25
If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. Don’t complain.’— Maya Angelou
Tenacious: persistent in maintaining, adhering to, or seeking something valued or desired.
That was the word a former boss used to describe me. And she was right.
Tenacity requires focus, patience, diligence, and an unwavering confidence in one’s own ability regardless of the limited vision of other people. Being tenacious also requires a firm willingness to give up complaining instead taking action to create what you need. Tenacious women have removed certain words and phrases from their vocabulary in their ability and success: can’t, won’t, not going to happen, impossible, too hard. We also shake off behaviors that lead us to complain like listening to the faults others find in everything, and defining the negative in a situation instead of asking the questions that will move us forward.
To all my tenacious sisters out there – what words and behaviors have you (or do you need to) eliminate to be brilliant?
