Last Monday on Career Makeover Strategies, Dr. Jo Golden of From Chaos to Clarity shared some fantastic tips on what to do and what not to do when it comes to using LinkedIn. Here are just a few of the nuggets that Jo shared with us (For more info check out the resource at the bottom of the post):

  • Don’t invite your connections until you have your profile set up: That’s the equivalent of having a house warming before you unpack.
  • Use the privacy settings to control what gets displayed.
  • Be selective about who you invite to connect from your contact list: Before you import address book into LinkedIn, be sure to remove any outdated contacts.
  • Don’t just cut your resume and paste it into LinkedIn: Be creative in your summary, using lighter language to convey a good “story.”
